Walking France GR5 – The Essentials

From Briançon, the capital of the Southern French Alps, to Mont Blanc, our Walking France GR5 holiday lets you experience the best sections of the GTA and GR5 trails.

The GR5, or "Grande Randonnée 5," is an epic walking trail that stretches from the North Sea to the Mediterranean on the French Riviera. The Alpine GR5, the portion that traverses the French Alps, is arguably the most spectacular part of the trail. Known as the GTA, or "Grande Traversée Alpine," it passes through the most picturesque and scenic parts of the French Alps, bordering Italy and Switzerland.

This exclusive trek takes you through some of the most amazing and undiscovered areas of the French Alps. Starting with an incursion into the "Vallée Étroite" (Narrow Valley) on the French-Italian border, you will then explore Thabor, Vanoise, and Beaufortain.

A blend of accommodations, including 2-3 person rooms in hotels and multisharing in huts, ensures comfort and total immersion in the mountains. Your main luggage will be transferred daily (except on Day 4), so you only need to carry a day pack.
